Client Testimonials

See what some of our clients have to say...

When our son, Nick, was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder a year and a half ago, we wanted to prioritize our resources as to what would best meet his needs.

Nick's Developmental Pediatrician told us that Advanced Pediatric Therapies should be at the top of our list. We called APT right away and it has been the best call we have made in regards to helping our son overcome his challenges.

Both Sharron and Lynette are very caring and extremely knowledgeable in the areas of Occupational Therapy and Sensory Integrtation as well as the Therapeutic Listening Program. We feel that they not only treat the affected child, but also the whole family. They encourage us to be involved in Nick's sessions and give us strategies for what we can do at home. They have also facilitated a wonderful parent support group at their clinic, bringing in speakers on a variety of topics that relate to families such as ours. One of the things we have appreciated most, is their willingness to be involved with Nick's other therapists, doctors and teachers. They keep in contact with Nick's other providers on a regular basis to coordinate his goals and discuss his progress. We call APT the "Dream Team" and feel so fortunate to have their guidance and support.

Sincerely,
Kari and Tim Sullivan

My eight year old son has attended APT for just over a year now, and his progress has been amazing. Before he started, we had no idea that his difficulties with biking, swimming and other motor activities could be traced to a need for Occupational Therapy! Over the year has gained body control and focus in a positive and fun environment that he looks forward to visiting each week. We were so proud of him when he learned to ride a bike and tie his shoes this summer!
The first time we walked into Advanced Pediatric Therapies, my son's eyes lit up. In front of us we saw the world's most amazing jungle gym. The equipment and space was incredible and the occupational therapists' knowledge of and ability to work with my son's needs was compassionate, understanding, thorough, and insightful. Lynette was able to keep up with and communicate with my son in a very constructive way. He responded immediately, something he's not quick to do with someone he's only just met. A couple of months later, I looked at my son one day and realized that he was a different kid. The OT's at APT helped him in a way that wasn't possible in any other modality. He's now able to regulate his mood and emotions more, and reach a state of calmness that I didn't think was possible before.

Our older daughter was identified as having non-verbal learning differences, which made math a very difficult subject. Of all the areas of math, geometry is the hardest for people with NLD. Just before she started her sophomore year with the dreaded geometry in her schedule, Sharron gave her a listening CD which she said had helped other children with NLD. Our daughter had her best year ever in math that year.

Our younger daughter was doing all right in school, but things were not going as smoothly as I thought they could be, nor was she reading or comprehending particularly well although she was clearly capable of learning. Lynette evaluated her, noticed some very subtle things, and suggested that our daughter should start with vision therapy. We followed that recommendation with outstanding results. After three months of therapy at the optometrist's office she referred us to, our daughter is devouring 300 page paperbacks in a series the other girls in her class have been enjoying.

Sharron and Lynette work extremely well with families. They have lots of experience diagnosing subtle differences that impede a child's development and offer a variety of ways to address those differences so that each child and family can find something that will work for them.

Received as part of an e-mail from a parent:

I wanted to send you his latest writing assignment. You couldn't tell that this is the same boy that came to you two years ago. He has a wonderful writing teacher this year that has really set him free, but I really believe that he wouldn't have been prepared to even take this class without the listening therapy. I just wanted to share it with you because APT helped to get him here. Sometimes, as a parent, you wonder if all the time and therapy will ever make a difference. It does! Thank you for being there and providing the great service you do.

We have been bringing Quentin to Advanced Pediatric Therapies since he was 3. He is now 7 years old, and doing things above our expectations. Coming here was the best thing we could have done. I am so glad we did! Quentin is now at a level where he just checks in once in awhile. Reaching this point was exciting, but we do miss coming to see Sharron each week. All of the therapists really put their hearts into the kids. We were lucky to be able to work with them. I would highly recommend them!

I want you to know that Robert* has turned into a wonderful young man. He is 17, a junior at Thomas Edison High School, good in school, learning to drive and very independent. He plays football for Jesuit and does track in the spring. He has confidence that probably sometimes extends beyond his ability, and a lot of that is due to the work he did with you. I always tell people that the occupational therapy work he did was transformational, including the listening therapies.

Robert will always have some challenges. Now that he is close to adulthood, I think he is starting to internalize that in a significant way. But he also has a belief that he will do well in this world, and I think he will. He was one of your first cases at Advanced Pediatrics, and I think you can call him one of your success stories.
